Human Resources Officer

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will work within the Common Administrative Platform at United Nations Headquarters, supporting staff administration and HR operations for New York‑based client entities. Reporting to the Chief of Unit/desk, the role ensures accurate, compliant and timely delivery of HR services.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a team of HR Partners and Human Resources Assistants to deliver consistent HR services.
• Oversee HR administrative transactions, including personnel actions, contract administration and staffing tables.
• Provide authoritative advice on HR policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
• Review recruitment requests, coordinate onboarding and determine staff entitlements at appointment.
• Approve job offers, letters of appointment and staff requests for benefits such as dependency benefits, education grants, rental subsidies and language allowances.
• Administer salary‑related matters, travel entitlements, social security and other benefits.
