Human Resources Manager

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Human Resources Manager to serve as the primary internal HR professional for a growing Texas civil litigation defense firm. The role will oversee day‑to‑day HR operations and help build systems that support the firm’s continued expansion across its Tyler and Austin offices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑cycle recruiting for attorneys, paralegals and support staff, including job postings, interviews, offers and pre‑employment checks.
• Manage onboarding, orientation, regular employee check‑ins and off‑boarding processes.
• Administer benefits, leave, enrollment and respond to employee benefit inquiries.
• Maintain the employee handbook, HR policies, personnel records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Advise managers on performance management, documentation, coaching and routine employee‑relations matters.
• Prepare corrective‑action documentation and conduct workplace investigations as needed.
• Coordinate performance reviews, training programs and professional‑development initiatives.
• Support workforce planning, employee engagement, retention and culture‑building activities.
• Continuously improve HR forms, checklists and procedures, and liaise with external counsel and benefit vendors.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of broad HR experience, preferably in professional‑services or multi‑office environments.
• Proven ability to manage recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance management and compliance independently.
• Strong judgment, discretion with confidential information and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field; SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus.
