Human Resources Generalist – Retail Stores

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Human Resources Generalist to join our store team in New York. In this fast‑paced retail environment you will act as a trusted partner to store leadership, supporting employee relations, payroll, recruiting and compliance while fostering an engaging workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the HR Manager and store leadership on staffing, employee relations, workforce planning and daily store HR operations.
• Serve as the primary liaison for employee‑relations questions, leaves of absence, paid time off and workers’ compensation.
• Ensure accuracy of staff timecards and support the payroll process.
• Provide training to store employees on HR processes, employment laws and recruiting practices.
• Assist managers with coaching, performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Maintain compliance with labor laws, company policies and HR best practices.
• Manage day‑to‑day store HR operations, including personnel files and HR reporting.
• Lead full‑cycle recruiting for store positions, partner with management on staffing goals, host job fairs and build talent pipelines.
• Oversee new‑hire onboarding, complete employment forms, conduct orientations and coordinate start‑date notifications.
• Collaborate with HR, Training, Legal, Payroll, Stores Support Center and Store Operations teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 4 years of HR experience, preferably in a retail setting.
• Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
