Human Resources Generalist I/II

About the role

Texas A&M University‑Central Texas is seeking a Human Resources Generalist who can operate at either the I or II level. The role provides moderate to routine HR support, assisting hiring managers, maintaining employee records, and processing HR transactions in the HRIS system. The position is based on the Killeen campus and reports to the HR department.

Key responsibilities

• Screen applications, verify credentials, and conduct background checks.
• Assist hiring managers with offer letters, compensation verification, and onboarding paperwork.
• Maintain employee files, ensure compliance with state record‑retention policies, and update the university organization chart.
• Process actions in the HRIS system, including posting positions and updating employee data.
• Respond to employee and supervisor HR inquiries and provide guidance on policies.
• Coordinate name‑badge orders, purchase office supplies, and support HR‑related events.
• Participate in recruiting events, job fairs, and provide training for search committees.

Required profile

• Authorization to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or HR certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in recruitment, employee record management, or HR administration.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with staff, managers, and external partners.
