Human Resources Director

About the role

The Human Resources Director will act as a strategic HR leader and trusted business partner for senior leadership and operational teams overseeing a portfolio of Class B & C multifamily residential communities. This role drives the full HR strategy, aligning people initiatives with business objectives to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end onboarding and offboarding, ensuring seamless employee experience, documentation, system access, benefits administration, exit interviews and regulatory compliance.
• Serve as strategic advisor to senior and operational leadership on employee relations, organizational development, performance management, workforce planning and talent strategy.
• Provide guidance on HR policies, employment practices and federal, state and local employment laws.
• Partner with property and regional leaders to address employee concerns, resolve workplace issues and improve engagement and retention.
• Develop and execute recruitment strategy for property management, maintenance, leasing and corporate positions; supervise the Recruiter.
• Manage the relationship with the company’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO), overseeing payroll, benefits, HR compliance, employee data and reporting.
• Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure consistent, positive employee experiences.
• Lead complex workplace investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Coach managers on performance improvement, corrective action, employee development and effective people management.
• Drive succession planning and talent management initiatives.
