Human Resources Director

About the role

The University of West Los Angeles is looking for an experienced Human Resources Director to lead all HR functions. This senior position will shape HR strategy, ensure compliance with California employment law, and foster a high‑performing, inclusive campus culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the university’s mission and growth objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on HR matters.
• Maintain scalable HR systems, policies, and employee handbooks.
• Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
• Lead full‑cycle talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention programs.
• Manage employee relations, performance reviews, and disciplinary processes.
• Recommend compensation structures, conduct salary benchmarking, and coordinate payroll.
• Supervise HR operations, recordkeeping, and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with department heads to improve university operational processes and support event planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of California employment law and compliance.
• Ability to work onsite in Los Angeles/Culver City or Woodland Hills at least once a month.
