HSE Specialist

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is looking for an HSE Specialist in Jacksonville. Reporting to plant leadership, the role promotes and maintains IKO's safety goals and ensures a safe work environment for all employees.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safety and housekeeping efforts, corrective actions and behavior-based safety programs, and develop health and safety systems, goals and plant-wide policies
• Identify hazards, investigate accidents and perform root cause analysis
• Manage workers' compensation activities, including first report of injury, OSHA 300 log, audits, physician and insurance carrier communication and record keeping
• Complete safety audits, reports and records on time, monitor safety performance trends and ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations (OSHA, TOSHA, NIOSH)
• Coordinate emergency response procedures, environmental permits and records (SWPPP, SPCC, air, storm water, wastewater), and interface with regulators and auditors
• Conduct safety training, lead safety and BBS teams, and run internal and external surveillance audits
• Perform and coordinate testing such as noise surveys and industrial hygiene, and plan and supervise contractor work
• Maintain facility security, general housekeeping and other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Able to work flexible, rotating production shifts of 8, 10 or 12 hours
• Prior health, safety and environmental experience; minimum three years of manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to work in a high-temperature environment, at heights and in confined spaces, and to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to stand 90% of the shift and regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach and grasp
