HR Transactions Specialist (HR Tech 3) – Decatur, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an HR Transactions Specialist (HR Tech 3) to support payroll and personnel processing for its Central Office in Decatur. Working under supervision, you will use the agency’s HRIS (Workday) to handle employee data, payroll calculations, and benefits administration.

Key responsibilities

• Process HR‑related actions in Workday and other HRIS platforms.
• Calculate payroll, deductions, and enter data accurately.
• Coordinate hiring paperwork and clearances.
• Enter, verify, and reconcile personnel transactions.
• Explain benefits and HR policies to employees.
• Issue paychecks, earnings statements, and respond to payroll inquiries.
• Review attendance, hours worked, and post adjustments.
• Provide information on tax issues, benefit plans, and employment questions.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED plus two years of HR‑related experience, or one year at HR Tech 2 level.
• Ability to substitute equivalent knowledge, education, or training.
• Preferred: 4+ years of experience with HCM systems (Workday, Peoplesoft) and prior work in state government.
