HR Manager

About the role

InterAgency Inc., a minority‑owned environmental consulting firm, is looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead full‑cycle recruiting and oversee employee relations, compliance and performance functions for its growing professional services team.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the executive team on workforce planning and develop job descriptions for technical and administrative roles.
• Manage all recruiting platforms, build proactive candidate pipelines, lead in‑person recruitment events, and coordinate the full interview and offer process.
• Design and continuously improve onboarding procedures, handle equipment and system access, and manage off‑boarding, exit interviews and termination documentation.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws in DC, VA, MD and other jurisdictions, administer leave policies, maintain EEO/anti‑harassment standards, and handle workers’ compensation and unemployment claims.
• Maintain accurate personnel files, labor‑law postings, and respond to HR complaints and legal requests.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR Manager or senior HR professional, preferably in a credential‑driven architecture/engineering environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of partnering with executives, project managers and external partners.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment regulations, FLSA classifications, and leave administration.
