HR Generalist (Part‑time, Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time HR Generalist to support a manufacturing operation in Troy, Michigan. This contract role may transition to a permanent position and blends employee support, recruiting coordination, and day‑to‑day HR administration.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, orientation, and separation processing.
• Partner with managers on recruiting activities such as posting openings, screening candidates, and scheduling interviews.
• Respond promptly to employee inquiries about policies, benefits, and general HR matters.
• Assist with employee‑relations matters, handling routine concerns and escalating complex issues.
• Review timecards, obtain manager approvals, and ensure accurate payroll submission.
• Maintain up‑to‑date HR records and employee information in HR systems.
• Support benefits administration and guide employees on enrollment and eligibility.
• Contribute to daily HR operations for the manufacturing site while safeguarding confidentiality.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an HR Generalist or broad‑based HR support role.
• Working knowledge of employee relations, onboarding, off‑boarding, and HR administration.
• Experience with full‑cycle recruiting and hiring coordination.
• Familiarity with benefits processes and HRIS record maintenance.
• Exposure to payroll support tasks, including timecard review and coordination with Paychex or similar providers.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with employees and managers.
• High level of organization, discretion, and attention to detail when handling sensitive information.
