Houseparent – Ingleside Home (Macon, GA)

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a dedicated Houseparent to support residents at Ingleside Home in Macon. Under direct supervision, you will assist with daily living activities and help individuals develop personal, social, and basic academic skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide transportation for clients to appointments and activities.
• Maintain accurate records of client progress and report changes to supervisors.
• Plan, shop for, and prepare meals, including special‑diet requirements.
• Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and errands.
• Participate in case reviews and advise clients on minor behavioral issues.
• Deliver one‑on‑one or group instruction on daily living skills.
• Offer companionship and personal care during periods of family disruption or convalescence.
• Assist with educational group lectures and arrange needed medical care.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least six months of relevant experience or training.
• Preferred: two years of experience working with adult mental‑health individuals.
• Must pass pre‑employment background and drug tests and be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
