Hourly Psychiatrist – GRHA (Georgia)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a board‑certified psychiatrist to provide hourly psychiatric services through the Georgia Regional Hospital Authority (GRHA). You will work with individuals receiving care from the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, delivering assessments, treatment planning, and medication management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic assessments, mental status examinations, and psychosocial histories.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
• Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications, ensuring efficacy and safety.
• Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and case conferences, offering expert psychiatric consultation.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
• Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor (MD or DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.
• Board certification in Psychiatry (or board‑eligible with intent to certify).
• Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in Georgia.
• Valid DEA registration.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment‑planning skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
