Hotel Controller – Finance & Accounting Lead

About the role

The Controller will lead the hotel’s finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective supervision of the accounting team. This role also provides leadership in labor management, purchasing, and IT oversight when the Director of Finance is unavailable.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present profit and loss statements, journal entries, and month‑end balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Train department heads on labor management systems and lead weekly labor and schedule review meetings.
• Develop, implement, and monitor resort‑wide financial internal‑control SOPs.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, and manage audit preparation and responses.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, tax obligations, and ensure compliance with sales and use tax filings.
• Participate in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, strategic plans, and monthly forecasts.
• Oversee daily, semi‑monthly, and monthly management reporting.
• Recruit, develop, and motivate the accounting team, conducting performance reviews and providing coaching.
• Represent the Director of Finance and the accounting office in their absence.

Required profile

• Professional accounting designation or university degree in accounting (or progression to 4th/5th level).
• Minimum 3 years of hotel accounting experience with senior‑level responsibilities.
• Proven leadership and coaching abilities, with a track record of building a cross‑trained accounting team.
• Familiarity with hotel operating systems and software.
