Hospitalist APP – 7x7 Shift – Gainesville

About the role

The Hospitalist APP works closely with physicians to deliver high‑quality oncology care at the Gainesville Cancer Center. This full‑time position involves direct patient assessment, prescription management, and participation in clinical trial enrollment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and psychosocial status through interviews, exams, and diagnostic studies.
• Write prescriptions for medications, blood products, and diagnostic tests according to practice protocols.
• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials and coordinate enrollment.
• Interpret laboratory and imaging results and relay findings to the supervising physician.
• Administer therapeutic measures, obtain specimens, and document care in the EMR.
• Dictate progress notes, admission summaries, discharge summaries, and referral letters in a timely manner.
• Support patients and families coping with acute and chronic illness phases.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and provide on‑call coverage as needed.

Required profile

• Medical background with ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments.
• Experience writing prescriptions and interpreting laboratory results.
• Familiarity with clinical trial eligibility criteria and enrollment processes.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to provide on‑call support and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced oncology environment.
