Hospital Supply Coordinator – Freight Dock

About the role

The Hospital Supply Coordinator – Freight Dock provides operational logistics support for the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, including the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and related academic departments. The role manages the physical flow of incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring timely receipt, safe storage, internal distribution, and outbound shipping of supplies, equipment, and temperature‑sensitive products.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify incoming freight, sort and stage packages, scan items into the tracking system, and generate delivery notifications.
• Transport supplies, equipment, and freight from the dock to designated storage areas or departmental locations, monitoring pallet sizes and notifying facilities when thresholds are exceeded.
• Coordinate outgoing shipments by arranging carrier pickups, preparing packaging, completing shipping documentation, and providing order confirmations to the Business Office.
• Assist with warehouse stock maintenance, rotate inventory, relocate overstock, support periodic counts, and handle disposal of expired or compromised materials.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks while following all safety and hazardous‑material procedures.
• Prepare outgoing packages, label them accurately, and ensure proper handling of temperature‑sensitive shipments.

Required profile

• Experience in warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, and inventory handling.
• Ability to work safely with material handling equipment and follow institutional safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail for verifying shipments and documenting inventory movements.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with carriers, facilities staff, and internal departments.
