Hospital Nurse Surveyor (RN Field Representative)

About the role

The RN Field Representative travels nationwide to conduct surveys of acute‑care hospitals, evaluating compliance with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements. This position blends clinical expertise with quality‑improvement analysis to help health‑care organizations enhance patient safety and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site surveys of hospitals, assessing adherence to accreditation, quality and regulatory standards.
• Apply systems‑analysis and inductive‑reasoning techniques to identify compliance gaps and potential system vulnerabilities.
• Engage hospital staff in interactive dialogues to clarify standards‑based issues and recommend improvement actions.
• Prepare detailed management reports linking deficiencies to organizational risk points.
• Communicate findings constructively to senior leadership and participate in additional Joint Commission activities as assigned.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved nursing school with a current RN license.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• CPHQ certification (or ability to obtain by 12/31/2028).
• Minimum five years recent health‑care experience, including at least three years of direct acute‑care nursing and three years of accreditation, certification leadership or senior management experience.
• Direct involvement in at least two Joint Commission surveys.
• Excellent critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
