Highway Operations Manager – Arizona

About the role

We are looking for a Highway Operations Manager to lead A‑Core Concrete Specialists’ Arizona Highway Division. The role oversees day‑to‑day highway construction activities across Arizona and neighboring states, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Determine required manpower, equipment and materials from project start to finish while respecting budget constraints.
• Plan operations, schedule intermediate phases and allocate resources to meet deadlines.
• Monitor progress, prepare detailed reports and submit time‑cards and progress updates.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and report any issues.
• Coordinate with the Regional Highway Manager, clients and vendors on new and ongoing projects.
• Attend highway meetings, job walks and conduct due‑diligence for project execution.
• Manage hiring, terminations and employee retention within the region.
• Motivate teams to develop strategies that improve operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience as an Operating Superintendent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; Commercial Driver’s License highly recommended.
• Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screen and background check.
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities with a focus on safety and quality.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of construction procedures and material management.
• Project management and budgeting expertise.
• Moderate computer proficiency for pricing and billing.
• Experience operating green and rehab saws, large‑depth (24 ft) sawing equipment.
• Experience with hot‑pour concrete and silicone sealants (e.g., 890, 888).
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and ability to pass DOT physical.
