Highway Engineer

About the role

Artheon is looking for a highly motivated Highway Engineer to join its Berlin office. The role involves designing and improving transportation infrastructure, including roadways, intersections, and safety features, while adhering to NJTA, NJDOT, and AASHTO standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop highway alignments, profiles, typical sections, cross‑sections and safety improvements such as guide rails and median barriers.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients and multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives on time and within budget.
• Evaluate existing roadways for safety upgrades, create traffic management plans, and oversee temporary signage and striping during construction.
• Ensure all designs comply with NJTA, NJDOT, AASHTO and local agency regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, plans and cost estimates using CAD software, preferably MicroStation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in highway design or transportation engineering.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey preferred or attainable soon.
• Familiarity with NJTA, NJDOT and AASHTO design standards.
