Heavy Civil Construction Estimator

About the role

Our client, a leading heavy civil contractor in Central and Southern Ohio, is seeking a motivated Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to join its pre‑construction team. You will play a pivotal role in securing new projects by delivering accurate, competitive cost estimates for large‑scale infrastructure work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive estimates for highways, roadway improvements, drainage, grading, excavation, and underground utilities.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Assemble detailed project budgets and final bid proposals.
• Review plans, specifications, and contracts to define scope and identify risks.
• Apply knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and productivity to produce competitive bids.
• Monitor market conditions and material price trends to maintain estimate accuracy.
• Collaborate with operations and project leadership throughout the bidding cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field with at least two years of estimating experience, OR five+ years of heavy civil/highway estimating.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Solid understanding of heavy civil construction techniques and estimating practices.
• Competitive mindset with a passion for winning new projects.
