Healthcare Data Communications Specialist

About the role

The Healthcare Data Communications Specialist works within a data research centre to support users in requesting, accessing, and understanding healthcare data. This role ensures that communications and educational materials are clear, accurate, and professional for researchers, data managers, and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and disseminate user‑friendly communications, tip sheets, FAQs, newsletters, slide decks, training modules, webinar content, and recordings.
• Review, triage, and analyse participant inquiries and feedback to identify recurring issues and knowledge gaps.
• Translate technical and policy information into plain‑language guidance tailored to different audience levels.
• Maintain web‑facing and internal document repositories to reflect current program policies and timelines.
• Coordinate with program managers, subject‑matter experts, and technical teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of public‑facing information.
• Support communication plans and outreach strategies to increase participant awareness of program changes and resources.
• Provide ad‑hoc communication support for related projects and stakeholder engagements.
• Ensure all communications comply with HIPAA, data privacy regulations, and healthcare terminology standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred fields: communications, public health, health policy, information science) with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Strong written and editing skills with a professional communication style.
• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience supporting CMS, HHS, or other federal/state health programs is a plus.
• Good analytical ability to synthesize participant questions, program updates, and policy changes.
