Healthcare Cybersecurity Analyst

About the role

The Healthcare Cybersecurity Analyst will protect sensitive patient data and critical medical systems by monitoring threats, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare security standards. This position works closely with IT, operations, and leadership to maintain a secure environment in a fast‑paced healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor healthcare networks, systems, and applications for security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Support incident response investigations and lead remediation efforts.
• Conduct security audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity protocols, tools, and controls.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA, privacy regulations, and organizational security policies.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to promote security awareness and best practices.
• Manage user access controls, endpoint protection, and system activity monitoring.
• Assist with vulnerability management, phishing prevention, and security awareness initiatives.
• Maintain documentation for security incidents, audits, and compliance activities.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or healthcare IT.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security.
• Experience in healthcare IT environments is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with SIEM tools.
• Endpoint security solutions.
• Firewalls and vulnerability scanning tools.
• Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or CEH (preferred).
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and healthcare infrastructure security.
