About the role
Essie Justice Group is seeking a dedicated Healing to Advocacy Program Manager to lead its signature organizing program. This full‑time position will oversee day‑to‑day operations, manage staff, and ensure the program effectively supports women with incarcerated loved ones across California and beyond.
Key responsibilities
- Directly manage 1‑2 staff members and supervise all program activities.
- Design and execute logistics plans that remove participation barriers for members.
- Co‑design and run the EssieKids! childcare component, aligning it with program needs.
- Oversee contractors such as childcare providers, guest trainers, and specialists.
- Lead member recruitment, handling nomination letters, coordinating a nominations committee, and filling cohort slots statewide.
- Develop and implement work plans, delegate tasks, and monitor progress toward program goals.
Required profile
- Deep commitment to people‑power and social justice, especially for those impacted by the criminal legal system.
- Proven experience in program or project management within a nonprofit or community‑organizing context.
- Strong ability to create detailed work plans, delegate effectively, and motivate staff and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for managing staff, contractors, and community members.
