Head Start Teacher – Early Childhood Education

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a dedicated Head Start Teacher to design and deliver high‑quality early childhood education for preschool‑aged children. You will lead a classroom, ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and build strong partnerships with families.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans that promote social‑emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
• Record and document observations, assessments, and screenings in paper and online systems.
• Supervise Teacher Assistants, Program Aides and Volunteers, fostering their professional growth.
• Engage with children throughout the day, providing constant supervision and guidance.
• Communicate regularly with the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion about classroom needs and issues.

Required profile

• Experience working with preschool‑aged children in an educational setting.
• Strong understanding of early childhood development standards and Head Start regulations.
• Ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding child safety policies.
