About the role

The Head of School serves as the cultural guardian and visionary leader of a learner‑driven community inspired by the Acton Academy model. This role goes beyond traditional administration, focusing on shaping culture, systems, and formation while ensuring the school’s mission thrives.

Key responsibilities

• Protect and advance the school’s mission, aligning daily operations with the learner‑driven philosophy.
• Recruit, onboard, mentor, and coach Guides, fostering a culture of ownership, humility, and professional growth.
• Maintain a safe, high‑trust environment that supports learner accountability, self‑governance, and healthy conflict resolution.
• Build strong partnerships with families, communicating the purpose and benefits of learner‑driven education.
• Oversee operational functions including enrollment, scheduling, staffing, compliance, safety, budgeting, and facilities management.

Required profile

• Belief that young people are capable of far more than conventional systems expect.
• Commitment to education as formation, not merely information delivery.
• Passion for fostering responsibility, challenge, and meaningful work in learners.
• Preference for guiding through questions, systems, and culture rather than control.
