Hardware Qualification & Development Support Engineer IV

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The Hardware Qualification and Development Support Team (DST) Engineer IV will act as a technical expert across multiple R&D disciplines, supporting module integration, calibration, qualification, and development activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support R&D module owners in off‑tool and on‑tool module integration, calibration, and qualification.
• Qualify module performance to specification both on‑tool and off‑tool.
• Lead qualification of complex, non‑system components and provide risk assessments.
• Define and execute qualification plans and calibration procedures.
• Serve as tool‑owner expert for build and complex integration, producing full build books and subsystem ATP tests.
• Provide high‑level debugging and third‑level escalation for modules within the area of expertise.

Required profile

• Demonstrated depth or breadth of expertise in at least two R&D disciplines (Optic, Electronic, Motion, SEM).
• Ability to interpret business challenges and recommend best practices.
• Experience leading functional teams or projects with moderate complexity.
• Strong analytical problem‑solving skills to drive innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex concepts and negotiating viewpoints.
