Hardware-in-the-Loop Software Engineer

About the role

Radiant Industries is developing portable nuclear microreactors and seeks a Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HiL) Software Engineer to build and maintain its HiL test systems. You will work on end‑to‑end development of HiL benches that support the design, testing, and validation of high‑temperature gas‑cooled reactors.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain hardware‑in‑the‑loop test bench hardware and software.
• Define system requirements and support hardware sourcing, including power supplies, actuators, and sensor interfaces.
• Integrate HiL software with physics simulation models such as thermal, neutronics, and power generation.
• Manage schedules, vendors, and communication between hardware, control systems, and software interfaces.
• Drive test automation, optimize validation processes, and produce comprehensive test reports.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate integration testing with cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience developing hardware‑in‑the‑loop systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with HiL frameworks such as dSPACE or Speedgoat.
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB and Python for data processing and test automation.
• Hands‑on experience building and configuring test hardware, including power supplies, actuator modeling, and sensor mapping.
• Experience creating automated test cases and generating detailed test reports.
