Hardware Engineer – Autonomous Maritime Systems

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Hardware Engineer to help design, develop, and integrate key systems for autonomous vessels. You will work in a fast‑moving startup environment, collaborating across hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to deliver maritime solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and integrate navigation, propulsion, sensor, and communications hardware for autonomous maritime platforms.
• Support prototype builds, field tests, and demonstrations in real‑world maritime environments.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues both in the lab and on‑site.
• Prepare DoD technical deliverables, documentation, and ensure compliance with defense requirements.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to iterate rapidly and meet evolving mission needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Robotics, Aerospace, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience with autonomous systems, marine or naval platforms, or robotic vehicles.
• Strong systems‑level understanding of hardware/software integration.
• Familiarity with DoD programs or defense contracting is a strong advantage.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous startup environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools.
• Experience in embedded systems development.
• Knowledge of control systems.
