Handbag Designer – Contemporary Fashion Brand (NYC)

About the role

We are seeking a highly creative Handbag Designer to join a globally recognised contemporary womenswear brand in New York City. The role sits within the Product Innovation Design team and will help shape the future of the brand’s growing accessories division, translating trend insights into commercially successful handbag collections.

Key responsibilities

• Research global trends and convert them into relevant handbag concepts.
• Contribute to seasonal design direction, collections and storytelling.
• Design handbags from concept through development, material sourcing and final execution.
• Create comprehensive tech packs and work closely with product development and factories.
• Specify trims, hardware and functional details.
• Collaborate with merchandising to build balanced, customer‑right assortments.
• Produce CADs, sketches and presentation decks for product launches.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in luxury or contemporary womenswear handbag design (entry‑level experience or internships considered).
• Strong understanding of handbag construction, materials, leathercraft and accessories design.
• Excellent eye for colour, materials and detail.
• Highly organised, collaborative and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Passion for fashion, product innovation and sustainability.
