Group Lead, US Tax – Agricultural Solutions

About the role

We are seeking a Group Lead for US Tax within our Agricultural Solutions business at BASF. Based in Research Triangle Park, NC, you will head the U.S. tax function, ensuring compliance and strategic tax support for a fast‑growing, soon‑to‑be independent agricultural company.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review and filing of all U.S. federal, state and local tax returns, including corporate income and indirect taxes.
• Oversee tax accounting, payments and reporting, aligning with statutory and management requirements.
• Manage the U.S. tax compliance calendar, maintaining strong controls and governance.
• Develop and lead the U.S. tax organization, driving performance and capability building.
• Advise senior leadership on tax risks, opportunities and compliance matters.
• Establish and maintain a robust tax control framework, ensuring audit readiness and handling tax audits and authority interactions.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Legal, business units, global tax teams and external advisors.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in U.S. corporate tax, including direct and indirect tax matters.
• Proven ability to lead a tax team in a complex, multinational environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to advise senior management.
• Demonstrated track record of building tax controls and managing audits.
