Groundskeeper – State Government

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a full‑time Groundskeeper to maintain the Lawrenceville campus grounds. This non‑exempt position offers a robust benefits package and a regular day shift, with occasional Saturday work and emergency response duties.

Key responsibilities

• Mow turf, remove leaves and debris, and plant seasonal color across campus.
• Perform operator checks, routine maintenance, and repairs on landscaping equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems.
• Supervise work‑study students and unskilled labor as needed.
• Respond to after‑hours emergencies to ensure campus safety and appearance.

Required profile

• Any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Associate Degree or Diploma in Horticulture (preferred).
• 1‑2 years of experience in production landscape maintenance or installation.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions quickly and accurately.

Required skills

• Irrigation system troubleshooting and repair.

• Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
• Email communication and internet research.
• Basic horticultural knowledge.
