Ground Support Equipment Mechanic

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to work at its MCAS Cherry Point, NC site. The mechanic diagnoses and repairs GSE, trains lower-level workers, inspects and approves maintenance, and keeps equipment records.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair GSE, using drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and technical publications
• Use automated maintenance data systems to track trends, record equipment and document maintenance actions
• Use multi-meters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers and hand tools to diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical faults
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspect, test and operate GSE, and service it with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air
• Disassemble, repair, clean and reassemble GSE components, mark equipment and handle hazardous materials according to environmental regulations
• Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment, and operate, clean and service GSE towing vehicles
• Maintain vehicle and equipment records, provide dispatch service for GSE, and follow good housekeeping, tool control, foreign object damage prevention and safety

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) with a 7-year background check
• High school diploma or GED, and ability to speak, read and understand English
• At least 4 years of experience inspecting, maintaining, repairing and modifying powered ground support equipment
• Valid U.S. driver's license and negative pre-employment drug screening
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, climb, bend and stoop, and pass any medical exam for respirator, corrosion control and blasting duties
• Must be able to learn the required tools within 30 days of hire

Preferred qualifications

• Military aviation support equipment experience
• Prior GSE operator experience
