Grind Machinist I – 2nd Shift

About the role

The Grind Machinist I works on the 2nd shift in Moog’s Military Aircraft Group, producing high‑precision components for programs such as the F‑35, MQ‑25 and FLRAA. The role involves setting up, grinding and inspecting complex parts that are critical to flight‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, process instructions and verbal directions to produce parts.
• Set up and operate grinding equipment on CNC machines in a high‑mix, low‑volume environment.
• Perform in‑process and final inspections using micrometers, dial bore gauges and other precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining and grinding issues to maintain quality and schedule.
• Collaborate with team members to solve problems and continuously improve processes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a formal manufacturing or CNC training program.
• At least one year of experience as a machinist, or equivalent training.
• Eligibility to enroll in Moog’s FAA Drug & Alcohol Program as required by FAA safety‑sensitive work regulations.

Required skills

• Operation and set‑up of CNC grinding machines.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (micrometers, dial bore gauges).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and work instructions.
• Process troubleshooting and problem‑solving on machining equipment.
