About the role
The Studio Museum in Harlem is looking for a Graphic Designer to join its Communications team. You will help shape the museum’s visual identity and create compelling assets that reflect Black artistic vision across exhibitions, publications, digital platforms and events.
Key responsibilities
- Design and produce graphics for exhibitions, printed collateral, social media, signage, invitations and environmental projects.
- Maintain and expand the museum’s visual identity system, ensuring brand consistency across print, digital, out‑of‑home and media campaigns.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Communications and Special Events teams to develop cross‑departmental visual narratives.
- Support in‑house publications such as Studio Magazine and artist‑in‑residence exhibition catalogs.
- Coordinate production with external vendors from concept through final delivery.
- Supervise and mentor a Graphic Design Intern.
- Organize and manage design files on shared drives and uphold style guidelines.
Required profile
- Proven experience working within creative teams and translating vision into executed designs.
- Strong visual aesthetic with deep knowledge of typography, color, composition and materiality.
- Passion for visual storytelling and staying current with design trends, especially within Black culture.
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to articulate design rationale.
- High attention to detail and willingness to work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
