Graduate Level Co‑op – Medical Imaging Data Scientist

About the role

Join the Image Guided Therapy Devices Software R&D team at Philips in Plymouth, MN. As a Graduate Level Co‑op Medical Imaging Data Scientist you will support the development, analysis, validation and documentation of data‑driven and machine‑learning workflows for clinical imaging software applications.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, process, organize and analyse raw clinical imaging or healthcare datasets from multiple sources.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, data‑quality issues and preprocessing needs.
• Verify the quality, consistency and reliability of data used for AI/ML model development and validation.
• Document data sources, cleaning procedures, assumptions, parameters and performance metrics.
• Assist data scientists and ML engineers with model training, evaluation, tuning and performance analysis under guidance.
• Complete required regulatory and quality‑system training.
• Prepare and deliver an end‑of‑summer presentation summarising the project, technical approach, results and impact.

Required profile

• Pursuing a master’s degree or Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.
• Experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow and convolutional networks like UNet or ResUNet.
• Strong understanding of medical imaging standards (DICOM, NIfTI) and imaging data management tools (PACS, cloud storage).
• Experience managing medical imaging databases and applying imaging data in AI/ML model development.
• Problem‑solving, debugging and effective communication skills.
• Willingness to work on‑site at the Plymouth, MN location.

• Hourly pay range $33.00 – $48.00 (overtime eligible).
