Graduate Assistant – Music (Jazz Studies)

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello seeks a Graduate Assistant to support the Division of Music. This 12‑month appointment is designed for a student completing a master’s degree in Jazz Studies and involves both performance and teaching responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ensembles and lead rehearsals as needed.
• Teach methods courses and applied lessons to undergraduate students.
• Perform in various ensembles, providing support for concerts and events.
• Assist faculty with curriculum development and classroom activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Music degree or at least 18 credit hours in performance, education, or jazz.
• Admission to the Graduate School at UAM or another accredited institution.
• Competency on at least one listed instrument (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass, voice, etc.).

Required skills

• Proficiency on a primary musical instrument (e.g., saxophone, trumpet, piano, etc.).
• Ability to teach and mentor undergraduate music students.
