Graduate Assistant – Data Analytics & Decision Support

About the role

The Graduate Assistant for Data Analytics & Decision Support will support the Dean’s Office of the College of Humanities, Social Sciences & Arts at East Texas A&M University. The role involves collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data to aid college planning and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve, organize, and analyze data from WebFOCUS, Banner, and other university systems.
• Monitor enrollment trends and assist with faculty workload analysis.
• Build and maintain Excel datasets, dashboards, and recurring reports.
• Create charts, tables, and visualizations for presentations.
• Develop and administer Qualtrics surveys and report results.
• Support ad‑hoc data requests related to academic programs and college operations.

Required profile

• Graduate student in good academic standing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential data.
• Ability to communicate quantitative information to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data organization).
• Qualtrics or similar survey software.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) – preferred.
• Familiarity with WebFOCUS, Banner, and large datasets.
• Basic knowledge of R, Python, or SQL – desirable.
