GPU Cluster Engineer, Hardware Operations

About the role

Sciforium, an AI infrastructure company, is seeking a dedicated Hardware Operations Engineer to own the physical health and foundational infrastructure of its GPU clusters. You will be the primary custodian of compute hardware, ensuring a stable, secure environment for research and product teams to run demanding workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for physical system outages, hardware failures, and network interruptions.
• Proactively monitor GPU thermals, power draw, and system loads to catch anomalies before they impact workloads.
• Coordinate with data‑center staff and third‑party vendors for RMA processes, repairs, and routine maintenance.
• Rack, cable, and bring up new GPU nodes, ensuring power and network connectivity.
• Install, patch, and maintain Linux operating systems (Ubuntu/CentOS/RHEL) across bare‑metal servers.
• Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and SSH access controls to secure the infrastructure.
• Administer LDAP/Active Directory for user authentication and manage network storage systems (NFS/GPFS/Lustre).

Required profile

• 3+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience with deep knowledge of boot processes, systemd, and disk management.
• Strong background in server hardware troubleshooting in high‑density environments (power, cooling, PCIe topologies).
• Experience managing networking security (VPNs, iptables/firewalld, VLANs) and directory services (LDAP/FreeIPA/Active Directory).
• Proficiency in Bash scripting for system automation.
