Government Relations Manager

About the role

Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) seeks a driven Government Relations Manager to advance conservation policy at the local government level across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with local elected officials, staff, partners, community leaders, and state agencies.
• Track, monitor, and analyze local ordinances, attend hearings and council meetings, and report on activities and metrics.
• Identify and leverage opportunities between local and state officials to advance conservation policy.
• Collaborate with policy staff and coalition partners to develop strategies and campaign needs.
• Represent CVSC in public settings and contribute to grant reporting and funding proposals.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional experience in advocacy campaigns, lobbying, and coalition‑building.
• Strong written and verbal communication, public speaking, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, with attention to detail and deadline orientation.
• Commitment to racial justice, equity, and an inclusive organizational culture.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
