Global Supply Chain Rotational Program – Volume Buyer I (Austin)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking recent graduates for a 30‑month Global Supply Chain Rotational Program in Austin, Texas. As a Volume Buyer I you will support the procurement of materials, supplies and services that keep our cutting‑edge manufacturing facilities running.

Key responsibilities

• Issue RFQs, analyze proposals, negotiate prices and execute purchase orders to meet volume manufacturing needs.
• Develop and implement commodity strategies, drive cost‑reduction initiatives and resolve supply‑chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery or lead‑time.
• Forecast engineering and material requirements, communicate with suppliers and perform make‑vs‑buy analyses.
• Present sourcing, cost and capacity initiatives to senior stakeholders and support supplier account management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics or related field.
• Strong academic standing (GPA ≥ 3.0) and ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Excellent written and oral communication, quantitative and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to complete the full 30‑month rotational program, including travel up to 10 %.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Technical knowledge of Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, R, SAS, SQL and Python.
