General Trades Technician – Columbus, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a General Trades Technician to join the West Central Georgia Regional Hospital team in Columbus. Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of semi‑skilled and skilled building‑trade tasks to keep state facilities safe, functional, and comfortable.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance, and construction work on state buildings and related structures.
• Install, service, and maintain security systems, climate‑control equipment, and other facility systems.
• Respond to work orders and emergencies to ensure continuous operation of hospital facilities.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in building repairs and maintenance, or one year in a lower‑level General Trades Tech position.
• Current licensure or certification as required by Georgia state law.
• Ability to pass drug screening, TB test, annual influenza vaccination, and background checks.
