General Service Technician

About the role

Monro, a family of automotive service and tire dealer brands, is hiring a General Service Technician. The role is blended, combining front-shop and back-shop duties with at least two days per week on the front counter. It covers routine vehicle repairs and maintenance, communicates vehicle issues and solutions to guests, and acts as a key holder and manager on duty when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle services and repairs to Monro standards and manufacturer specifications
• Tire services: wheel removal, balancing, patch/plug repairs, mounting, installation and TPMS service
• Vehicle services: lubrication, oil changes, basic maintenance, battery testing and installation
• Complete the Courtesy Inspection on every guest vehicle and document additional services needed
• Assist with inventory management, pulling tires and parts and stocking
• Help keep the store clean and guest-ready, and assist with guest care, work orders, register assistance and purchasing
• Test drive vehicles under the Road Test policy and follow safety standards such as wheel torque and oil safety
• Open and close the store as a secondary key carrier

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Automotive training in basic car maintenance and repair, or equivalent education and experience
• Current valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report
• Able to operate customers' vehicles for test drives
• Owns a basic set of tools or joins Monro's tool purchase program
• Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays; able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for long periods
