General Manager – Retail (Full-Time)

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic General Manager to lead our Amherst store. In this full‑time position you will shape the customer experience, drive sales performance, and develop a high‑performing team while upholding Pottery Barn’s brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, train, and develop associates to support growth and succession planning.
• Achieve or exceed budgeted sales, payroll, and controllable expense targets.
• Manage daily store operations, inventory levels, and visual merchandising.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive brand experience.
• Plan schedules, monitor performance, and provide ongoing feedback and appraisals.
• Maintain floor presence, ensure adequate staffing coverage, and foster a respectful, inclusive work environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of management experience in specialty or multi‑unit retail.
• Proven ability to exceed sales goals while controlling payroll.
• Demonstrated talent for identifying, training, and retaining top performers.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication, organization, and leadership capabilities.

Required skills

• Physical ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and move items up to 75 lb using proper equipment.
