General Manager for High-End Japanese Restaurant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead MM by Morimoto, Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s newest high‑end Japanese concept opening in Montclair, NJ. This is a unique opportunity to shape the launch and ongoing success of a flagship restaurant that blends traditional Japanese techniques with modern innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of pre‑opening, launch and daily operations, coordinating contractors, suppliers and staff to ensure readiness for opening day.
• Recruit, train and develop a high‑performing team while fostering a professional, collaborative culture.
• Facilitate seamless communication between front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Manage financial performance, including P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity, inventory control and expense optimization.
• Establish and uphold operational procedures and service standards that reflect Chef Morimoto’s vision.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing high‑end restaurant operations.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and motivating teams.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly.
