General Maintenance Worker

About the role

The General Maintenance Worker supports the upkeep of county facilities by performing a variety of minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks. Working under the guidance of a Senior General Maintenance Worker or a Maintenance Supervisor, you will help keep buildings safe, functional, and presentable.

Key responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and maintenance across multiple trades, including carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, and plumbing.
• Use hand, power, and pneumatic tools to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Inspect facilities, identify issues, and execute corrective actions to maintain operational standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff to prioritize workload and ensure timely completion of projects.

Required profile

• At least two years of experience performing general building maintenance and minor repair work.
• Experience must cover a minimum of two of the following areas: carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, or plumbing.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow safety regulations.

Required skills

• Carpentry – building, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and fixtures.
• Electrical – inspecting, repairing, and replacing switches, outlets, and lighting components.
• Masonry – patching, resurfacing, and restoring concrete, brick, or asphalt surfaces.
• Painting – preparing and refinishing interior and exterior surfaces.
• Plumbing – fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures or fittings.
• Proficiency with hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
