General Labor - Plant Production

About the role

Saputo is hiring for an entry-level plant production position in its Gustine facility. After hire, employees receive training in several positions to support plant operations. The role is hands-on in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, with rotating, day, swing or night shifts and weekends, and may involve covering vacations, downtime or audits.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient production support, including hand-stacking, case packing, housekeeping, product conveying and reclaim.
• Follow standard operating procedures precisely and perform routine equipment adjustments with hand tools.
• Set up packaging coders, validate product codes and identify out-of-specification product conditions, following the notification protocol.
• Complete production records accurately and assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and set-up.
• Perform product reclaim, rework, packaging and stacking, and support internal and external audits.
• Follow all occupational health and safety procedures, GMPs and food safety requirements, and adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics and workplace climate policy.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, or one year of demonstrated work experience.
• Previous food manufacturing or dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good math skills and strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Good attendance and ability to work in a noisy, temperature-changing environment, lifting up to 50 lbs frequently and 50+ lbs with assistance.

Required skills

• Proficient computer skills, software and data entry; SAP is a plus.
• Ability to multi-task, follow instructions and work in a team.

The hourly rate is $28.76.
