Funeral Service Education Program Instructor

About the role

The Funeral Service Education Program Instructor will join a full‑time faculty team to deliver high‑quality instruction to future funeral service professionals. This position supports student learning through classroom teaching, laboratory supervision, and curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare weekly lesson plans aligned with Student Learning Outcomes for each course.
• Deliver course content using effective oral and written communication and current industry procedures.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi and Blackboard learning modules.
• Assess student progress, assign grades, and keep accurate attendance records.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, TCSG, and accreditation standards.
• Advise students on academic and career pathways.
• Participate in recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
• Assist with budgeting for instructional equipment and supplies.
• Contribute to departmental committees and community projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (must obtain a master’s degree within five years of hire) in Mortuary Science, Biology, Microbiology, Pathology, Psychology, Sociology, Business Management, or a related field.
• Graduate of an ABFSE‑accredited Funeral Service Education institution.
• Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of Georgia.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Commitment to student success and professional development.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Blackboard Learning Management System.
