Fund Accounting Manager

About the role

Our client, a large venture capital firm with over $10B in assets under management, is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to lead fund‑level accounting in San Francisco. The position is office‑based Monday‑Thursday and will own the end‑to‑end accounting and close process for multiple funds.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary owner of fund‑level accounting execution.
• Manage day‑to‑day accounting and close across assigned funds, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and consistency of financial reporting.
• Own the quarterly and annual close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Oversee quarterly valuations with the investment team, coordinating data and reviewing assumptions.
• Review and manage work performed by third‑party administrators (NAVs, capital activity, investor allocations, loan activity).
• Facilitate and manage external fund audits.
• Supervise cash forecasting performed by junior team members.
• Oversee leverage compliance, including advances, repayments, monthly servicing and quarterly reporting; escalate issues to CFO/Finance Director.
• Review liquidity forecasts to manage fund liquidity and investment pipeline.
• Support fundraising and due‑diligence by preparing and validating financial information and assisting with fund onboarding.
• Champion the adoption of AI tools to automate routine tasks and accelerate reporting cycles.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of finance or accounting experience, preferably in venture capital, private equity or related funds.
• CPA certification and Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership, high energy, initiative and creativity.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and think critically.
• Excellent organization, timeline management and attention to detail.
• Team‑player mindset with willingness to roll up sleeves.
