Functional Safety Engineer – Infotainment Systems

About the role

The Functional Safety Engineer will join the Functional Safety Engineering team focusing on infotainment and connected‑vehicle domains. You will ensure that failures in displays, HMI, telematics or software do not compromise safety‑critical vehicle functions or create driver distraction hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee functional safety throughout design, development and validation of infotainment and connected‑vehicle features.
• Contribute to feature requirements and provide safety guidance, identifying hazards from electrical faults, display issues, and software‑hardware interactions.
• Perform vehicle‑level HARA, generate safety goals, and conduct DFMEA, FTA and FMEDA analyses.
• Develop safety mechanisms such as redundancy architectures, hardware diagnostics, system health monitors and fail‑safe designs.
• Create and execute test cases on LabCar and vehicle test assets, including HiL environments, and deliver data analysis reports.
• Represent the functional safety team in cross‑functional projects with Diagnostics, Platform, HMI, Connectivity and Electrical Systems teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• 2‑3 years of experience in functional safety engineering for automotive systems.

Required skills

• Safety analysis methods: HARA, DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA.
• Experience with LabCar and HiL testing environments.
• Design of redundancy architectures, hardware diagnostics, system health monitoring and fail‑safe mechanisms.
• Development of safety requirements using a requirements‑management toolchain.
• Knowledge of infotainment, display, HMI and telematics systems.
