About the role
The San José Fire Department (SJFD) is seeking a full‑time Nurse to join its Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Training. The role supports the EMS Division’s mission to deliver high‑quality patient care and ensure the health and safety of department personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care to patients in emergency and community settings.
- Lead infection‑control initiatives and support public‑health preparedness.
- Drive quality‑improvement projects and monitor performance metrics.
- Develop and deliver workforce training and professional development for EMS staff.
- Coordinate community‑paramedicine programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
Required profile
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in California.
- Experience in emergency medical services or high‑volume clinical environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Commitment to the SJFD mission of protecting life, property, and the environment.
