Full-Time Technical Support Specialist

About the role

Atlanta Technical College, part of the State of Georgia, is seeking a full‑time Technical Support Specialist to join its Information Technology division. The role supports faculty and staff on the main campus, providing day‑to‑day technical assistance and ensuring reliable operation of hardware, software and network services.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize and resolve help‑desk tickets from administrators, faculty and staff.
• Install, configure and maintain Microsoft Windows operating systems and application software.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair workstations, peripheral equipment and campus network infrastructure.
• Assist with installation of fiber and copper cabling, including structured cabling projects.
• Research emerging technologies and recommend hardware or software upgrades.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on hardware, software and networking topics.
• Participate in ad‑hoc committees and collaborate with a team of technicians to meet strategic IT objectives.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• At least three years of experience providing technical support in an academic or enterprise environment.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows OS installation and configuration.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
• Network troubleshooting, including LAN, fiber and copper cabling.
• Knowledge of information security best practices.
